ADVANCED SENSORS FOR CHEMICAL DETECTION, BIOLOGICAL DETECTION, AND EXPLOSIVES DETECTION
Chemring Detection Systems (CDS) offers an advanced line of point and standoff chemical, biological, and narcotic agent detectors and explosive detection systems. Chemring Detection Systems’ (CDS) product developers include: science and technology, product engineering, production, supply chain management, quality, logistics and field service support, and program management.
CDS’s products are backed by a state-of-the-art production facility in Charlotte, N.C. The Charlotte facility offers approximately 123,000-square-feet of manufacturing flex space for sensor production, with over 8,000-square-feet dedicated to development laboratories for test and evaluation of new products and technologies. The facility houses research and development (R&D) laboratories, clean rooms, prototype development and environmental test equipment. Our research and development labs include: a wet-chemistry and biology lab; an optics test and evaluation station; and a software integration, modeling and simulation lab. Additional capacity is available for contract manufacturing opportunities.
CDS’s Sensor Development Laboratory is capable of bio-aerosol, chemical-aerosol, and complex vapor simulant generation. CDS developed an advanced particulate/aerosol test chamber for the tightly controlled delivery of particulates and aerosols. In addition, this development laboratory has automated testing systems for the introduction of complex vapors to a vapor detection system. The system is capable of delivering multiple samples in the presence of interferents. Moreover, environmental influencers such as temperature and humidity can be controlled. The Simulant Laboratory houses complex vapor generation and analysis equipment.
CDS maintains a strong focus on product quality and environmental health and safety, as evidenced by our ISO 9001:2008 / AS9100:2009 quality assurance registration. The facility is also certified to ISO 14001:2004 environmental management system standard; and the OHSAS 18001:2007 safety and health standard.
